When the pace of life is fast, our minds move fast, we become further and further away from our natural state of being…… to be calm, relaxed with a sense of balance.
When practicing restorative yoga there is little muscular activation. We will explore around 5/6 postures using pillows, blocks and bolsters to completely support the body. Resting in the postures for 5-10 minutes. We can then be somatic (paying attention in the body) mindfully releasing and becoming aware of tension.
This class works to deeply soften the body and mind.
During a restorative Yoga sequence, you still stretch…. the body feels safe so muscles can often release more than in more active classes.
Because the body and mind relax, literally becoming softer, we can then also create space to get in touch with a quiet mind and our natural qualities of compassion and love.
Practicing restorative Yoga is a great help to anyone who has just had a baby, recovering from illness, injuries, stressed, or if you just want a lovely relaxing time.
